Position Summary:

The Six Sigma Specialist will play a pivotal role in driving process improvement initiatives across various departments within the University. This individual will utilize Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and enhance overall organizational effectiveness to help with business process for a shared services center that was created for accounts payable and travel reimbursements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, leadership abilities, and a proven track record of implementing successful Six Sigma projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Led Six Sigma projects from inception to completion, following DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology.
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of existing processes, identifying root causes of inefficiencies and areas for optimization.
  • Develop and implement action plans to address process deficiencies, utilizing appropriate Six Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive process improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff members on Six Sigma principles and methodologies.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, tracking key performance metrics and ensuring sustained improvements over time.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Six Sigma methodologies, staying abreast of industry best practices and trends.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, presenting findings and recommendations clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborate with external partners and vendors as needed to support process improvement initiatives.

 

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management).
  • Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt) is required.
  • Higher education experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading Six Sigma projects in a complex organizational environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence change.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for driving organizational excellence.
