The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an operational psychologist providing a full spectrum of technical expertise, guidance, training/instruction, & direct psychological services for the purposes of increasing readiness, capacity, & potential. Responsibilities Provides psychological and human performance interventions to bolster cognitive and non-cognitive functioning under prolonged, adverse training conditions. Develops, administers, and interprets a full spectrum of psychological assessment tools within the SW (Special Warfare) assessment and selection process. Provides evidence-based psychological interventions for SW candidates, cadre, and staff. Given broad, non-specific administrative direction and guidelines, serves as a psychological subject matter expert and consultant to SW and AF leaders, mental health professionals, medical staff, commanders, HP staff, instructors, and training professionals. Represents HPSG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: A professional background that includes experience with Special Operations, Intelligence Agencies, or similar is highly desired. Employee may be required to carry a work cell phone and subject to calls outside of duty hours. Non-Combat Essential (NCE) The duty of the employee is to provide support expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations. The employee could be deployed to support emergency operations, humanitarian missions, disaster relief, or other expeditionary missions in the continental United States or overseas, that are not considered "combat" locations. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment. Position DOES NOT provide civilian support to combat operations. A pre-employment physical is a condition of employment. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, GS 0180 series + IOR (Individual Occupational Requirements). BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below: Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes : Applying a professional knowledge of clinical psychology and psychological measurement as well as fundamental theories, and concepts in human performance to manage programs, policies, management objectives for accomplishing psychological assessment work. Providing knowledge and skill in the application of various psychological interventions to manage emotional, behavioral, and social aspects of readiness and functioning of military personnel in highrisk, high-demand career fields. Performing computer utilization and statistical techniques for data analysis and proficiency in utilizing behavioral science software packages for data manipulation and analysis. Administering interviewing techniques, including the development, structure, conduct, evaluation, and assessment. Conducting, administering, and interpreting the full spectrum of psychological assessment tools applicable to BMT. Planning, organizing, and leading study work/ projects and to negotiate effectively with leadership to accept and implement recommendations, analyzing complex processes involving several functional areas with overlapping concerns and conflicting interests. Communicating orally and in writing to prepare detailed written reports, including briefing charts, diagrams, and other graphics to support recommendations or conclusions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
