Job Description
The Data Center Security Technician maintains the security and safety of people and property in the data center. Identifies and escalates issues in accordance with documented policies and procedures. Conducts patrols of the datacenter to ensure the protection of assets and property. Provides strong customer service, access control, loss prevention, incident response, observation, and reporting for all safety and security incidents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of FOUR YEARS working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) in a Data Center environment.
Prior military experience preferred but not required.
Meets and continues to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Armed Security Officers and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
Ability to follow accurate and complete support procedures, systems documentation, and issue tracking entries.
Shows good judgment and instincts in decision making opportunities.
Ability to work in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment, with 12 hour rotating shifts with ability to work weekend shifts or after-hours as required.
Be able to perform first aid and CPR with AED after training. Be comfortable with the use of hand fire extinguishers after training.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs. and work in elevated or tight locations.
High School diploma/GED
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assures that all visitors are properly registered to allow access to the facilities.
Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence.
Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
Remove wrongdoers or trespassers from the area.
Check surveillance cameras periodically to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions.
Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation.
Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
Apprehend and detain perpetrators according to company and legal protocol before arrival of authorities.
Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences
Answer questions and assist guests and employees; Answer phones or greet guests/ employees in a professional, welcoming manner.
Act as a point of contact during emergency situations, assisting in the implementation of emergency response plans.
Collaborate with the security team and emergency services to ensure a swift and effective response to incidents.
Patrols the facility on foot or in a vehicle.
