Job Description

Summary

Build out racks and dress cable in and between racks. Read and understand rack elevations. Rack and stack equipment. Set racks to customer specifications Follow all site protocols and be able to work independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses and corrects copper and optical fiber problems.
  • Removes and demolishes abandoned cables.
  • Identifies active circuits.
  • Attends training and safety meetings. Works safely at all times utilizing necessary Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Follows all stie safety and operational protocols .
  • Furnishes and utilizes hand tools and small power tools as needed for day to day tasks.
  • Completes written daily status updates to all stakeholders
  • Functions as "lead" in absence of Lead Technician if directed to do so.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, cabling standards and components.
  • Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Logicalis through performing behaviors consistent with the organization's values.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Logicalis in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.
  • Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.

Education and/or Experience

Equivalent combination accepted.

Education:
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent in a related field.

Experience:
  • 1 year experience in Data Center environment
  • Previous structured cable experience is helpful
  • IDF/MDF build out experience would be helpful
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applications.

Computer Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Certifications
  • BICSI Technician

Other Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work extended hours including evening/weekend (overtime) as needed.
  • Ability to be regularly scheduled for on-call status if needed.
  • Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety.
  • Travel daily to work sites necessary.
  • Travel to out of-town-work sites as needed.
  • Strong technical and customer interaction skills.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow through with tasks, projects, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding oral, written, technical, and business communication skills.
  • Superb customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced environment.
