Background

• Works under general supervision of the Electrical Supervisor in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
• Perform general industrial electrician duties (installation, maintenance, and service of electrical systems), with strong emphasis on running and landing wires, building panels, new startup check outs, running and bending conduit, and mounting wire raceways.

Tasks

• Maintain devices that provide power to and controls for the plant distribution, machines, equipment, and other gear.
• Install, connect, test, and maintain electrical control and instrumentation systems for a variety of purposes, including production, climate control, security, and communications.
• Inspect equipment, locate, and correct problems before breakdowns occur; use preventative and corrective maintenance techniques to diagnose, isolate, and repair electrical. Electronic problems throughout the facilities (may include repair of motors, transformers, generators, process, and PLC controllers on production equipment)
• Work with blueprints and follow the National Electrical Code, state, and local building codes.
• Recognize voltages at primary and secondary levels, exercises proper care safety precautions when working with all voltages.
• Plan sequence of installation (including collaboration with process/project engineers, operations, and other maintenance staff) to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
• Work routinely with electrical gear, motors, controls, components, PLCs, standard devices, and wiring.
• Advise management on whether or not continues operation of equipment could be dangerous.

Specifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Successfully completed accredited trade school
• Entry level 0-2 years of industrial electricity, manufacturing, process plant, oil & gas, or chemical experience
• Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test

Training Requirements

• Attend a minimum of (1) training class and be able to demonstrate aptitude in chosen subject. VFD, troubleshooting, instrumentation, etc. Must be signed off on by electrical supervisor or lead.

Knowledge of

• Basic levels of mathematics and English comprehension
• Basic level of safety, health and environmental rules/regulations, policies, and procedures
• Possess basic electrical knowledge, including 480V 3PH
• Basic level of local, state, and federal building and electrical codes

Skill In

• Organization of tools and materials
• Use of standard tools and equipment in an industrial setting
• Functioning independently and within a team environment
• Understanding drawings, instructions, and service manuals
• Reading schematics, drawings, service manuals, and blueprints

Ability To

• Able to safely use basic electrical hand tools i.e. voltmeter, ammeter, general hand tools
• Able to interpret and follow electrical one lines and schematics
• Able to adhere to basic level of safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures
• Work in extreme cold and hot (120F) industrial environments
• To observe and wear the personal protective equipment as required
• Work from oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams in English
• Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
• Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
• Follow established company policies and procedures
